A suggested article to read from the Superintendent Minister - Revd Stuart Innalls.

I don't often read newspaper articles in full, but I commend this one to you - it is long but please bear with it.

I think it all too accurate and paints a picture that the West in its affluence needs to reflect on. We can spend billions on measures to combat the affects of Coronavirus whilst other countries, such as India, are not in this position. We can suggest that the cause are things such as, poor prioritisation, bad government or similar, but the reality is that 460 million people could be affected and be unsupported.

For those who might be interested in a snapshot of India at this time this link might be a good one to follow and, perhaps, see our own situation in a very different perspective. As as a District we are in touch with our friends in Cuttack - all of them are okay at present. But the people they serve and the Christian communities in Orissa who are in lock-down themselves may not be so fortunate. May I please ask for your prayers for the people of India at this time. Thank you.

A Prayer by the President of the Conference:

Loving God
If we are ill, strengthen us
If we are tired
Fortify our spirits
If we are anxious
Help us to consider the lilies of the field and the birds of the air.
Help us not to stockpile treasures from supermarkets in the barns of our larders!
Don't let fear cause us to overlook the needs of others more vulnerable than ourselves
Fix our eyes on your story
And our hearts on your grace
Help us always to hold fast to the good and see the good in others.
And remember there is just one world, one hope,
One everlasting love, with baskets of bread for everyone.
In Jesus we make our prayer,
The one who suffered, died and was raised to new life,
In whom we trust, these days and all days. Amen
